“I believe that true identity is found in creative activity springing from within. It is found when one loses themselves.”
– Anne Morrow Lindbergh
Typically, I am a hyper-organized person. I have baskets, shelves, drawers and buckets dedicated to keeping my creative supplies in their place. Recently, those accoutrements seem to have vomited all over my desk. If you’ve visited Pinterest recently and searched for “craft room organization”, you may have noticed that all of the results have a similar theme.
Clean. Bright. Color-coordinated.
I envy these craft rooms. I dream of these craft rooms. My craft room (actually, corner) will never look like that.
Every so often, I have an OCD episode (this is not strictly clinical) and I rip apart every shelf, dust and reorganize. As best as I can, I find a place that is suitable and accessible for each category of tools. It does not last long.
I am hoping that when we move into our new house, I will have the opportunity to maintain a bit more order. I have some plans. If it works out, I’ll be sure to share. In the meantime, I’d love to see some of the spaces where you all create!
